OUR LOGO

Historically, our denomination, Worldwide Church of God Canada, would have been described as a media ministry. We specialized in television, radio and printed publications to reach our audience. As a result, our members were often scattered across large expanses of the country as they responded to a media item, regardless of how remote their location was.

In the Spring of 1997 the Elders of our congregation determined that we needed to focus our ministry work in a local, rather than a national manner, because a church family needs the nurturing, support and growth that can best take place when direct, regular contact exists.

To support this purpose we began a three month process to capture what was most important to us in a logo design and motto. The congregation was presented with various proposals and the final result is seen above.

The logo is comprised of several elements:

a) The Cross of Christ is at the centre of who we are and what we do. If you look, you will notice a light emanating from the centre outward, because the light of Christ is within us and radiates to the world around us.

b) In the foreground is an image of two people joined together in the shape of a bridge. We believe that we can exist in a harmonious relationship with each other, because our relationship with God has been reconciled through the forgiveness of Christ, by His shed blood.

c) Saskatoon is the "City of Bridges" and we wanted to relate, as a family and community church, to the whole city, rather than any specific, limited region or neighbourhood.

d) The motto "Building Bridges in Christ" depicts our ministry calling. We believe firmly that peace is not just an absence of hostility and violence, it is a proactive behaviour that reaches out to make connections and bonds with others. At its heart, we are able to build bridges with others only once we recognize the value that God places on each and every person. This love for us was most profoundly demonstrated by the act of God to send His Son to die in our place.

It is our hope that you will find vital meaning and significance in our logo. It has been a source of encouragement and unification for our congregation as our journey has taken us through times of trial as well as times of joy.
